The Imperial Japanese Ministry of

Foreign Affairs have the honour to acknowledge

the receipt of the Note No. 27 addressed by

His Excellency the British Ambassador to the

Minister for Foreign Affairs on the 30th January.

The Ministry hasten to state in reply

that they have referred to the authorities

concerned the case of the damage alleged in the

Note under reply to have been suffered by a

fishing and trading junk as a result of an

attack by a Japanese Naval vessel, together with

the various cases which formed the subject of

Note No.251 of the 19th December last, and that

they are now being investigated. The Ministry

will have the honour to reply further when this

investigation has been completed.
